Plymouth Branch River Trip May 2103

Plymouth Branch River Trip May 2103

On Saturday May 25th., over 80 branch members, guests and families boarded the "Spirit of Plymouth" for our annual V.B.O.S.T. (Very Basic Operational Sea Trials). On securing 'Hands for Leaving Harbour' and 'Special Sea Dutymen' most could be found at the bar and buffet, in fact, the bar was so popular we were required to carry out a foc'stle to foc'stle R.A.S with the "Plymouth Princess" to replenish rapidly depleting stocks !

After circumnavigating the 'sound', S/M's Jean Evans and Juliet Russell were awarded their Cox'ns 'ticket' for steering a fairly straight course. On our way up the Tamar further exercises took place including spot the warship, it was our lucky day!!! we discovered HMShips Illustrious, Somerset, Portland and Sutherland plus 3 'dark destroyers' (submarines) and a Swedish ship with an unpronounceable name! Sunset was duly respected and admired. Returning to Mayflower Steps at 22:00, after a very enjoyable trip, leave was granted to both watches.
