Veteran Mentors at HMS Raleigh

Veteran Mentors at HMS Raleigh

The RNA have been providing Veteran Mentors to HMS Raleigh from Plymouth, Saltash, Torpoint and Liskeard branches since 2008. All find it very enjoyable and rewarding.

Photographs show Shipmate John Whiteman of Plymouth branch with his class, Cornwell 018's Stbd.about to carry out The Guard for their Passing Out Parade after completing their initial 10 week recruit training. and Shipmate John Stewart,Saltash branch and Area 4 Chairman, with his class Cornwell 018's Port.

At work on the "High Ropes" is Shipmate Eric Rattle (Plymouth) with his class Cunningham 022's Port This is to encourage confidence in their equipment, the rest of the team, but mostly in themselves.

Other images show Shipmate John Stewart (Saltash) and Shipmate John Whiteman (Plymouth) with Cornwell 021's Port and Stbd during the "Hosting the Vet." period when the classes host us and supply us with tea/coffee and biscuits etc., it's a chance to chat with them informally, we spin them a 'dit, show them potos of our younger selves and ships we have served on. A chance to get to know each other.
