Plymouth Branch Trafalgar Weekend

Plymouth Branch Trafalgar Weekend

Over the weekend of 11th to 14th of October, the branch celebrated our bi-annual Trafalgar Weekend at the Sefton Hotel, Babbacombe. We were accompanied by members from 6 other branches, Frome,Stroud, South Bristol, Tewksbury, Launceston and Saltash, over 100 members and guests spent a fantastic weekend of good food, good fun and the odd drink or two.
Our Guest of Honour and after dinner speaker was Cdre Adrian Nance OBE RN, who gave a very different view of the battle as seen from members from the lower deck and gun crews, which was much enjoyed by all present.
On Sunday a very moving service was conducted by our Chaplain Rev. Peter Warland QHC RN, there were very few dry eyes in the congregation. The Hymns were led by The Riviera Brass Concert Band, who, after the service gave rousing renditions of Heart of Oak, A Life on the Ocean Wave etc. finishing the National Anthem.
All in all a very successful weekend, we have already booked the Hotel for 2015.
