Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II    1926 - 2022

The Royal Naval Association – members and officials – are deeply saddened by the news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen, and we offer our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the King and the Royal Family.

For centuries the British monarch has been the head of the country’s Armed Forces, but the Royal Navy enjoyed a particularly close relationship with Her Majesty as she was the daughter of a Royal Navy Officer, the wife of a Royal Navy Officer, and her children all served in or have high-profile roles in the Naval Service. Indeed, the Queen described her days as a naval wife in Malta, where her husband the Duke of Edinburgh was serving in the late 1940s, as amongst the happiest of her life.

Her Majesty’s extraordinary sense of service and dedication to duty to the Country and Commonwealth is an example to all, and the Royal Naval Association is proud that Her Majesty bestowed Her patronage upon the Association from the outset and took an interest in our progress and activities throughout her reign.

RNA National President Vice Admiral Duncan Potts said: “Her Majesty The Queen encapsulated the epitome of service and was revered as our Patron, The Association collectively passes our deepest condolences to the King and the rest of the Royal Family”
